My Life As A Single Mother

Im a 18 yr. old single mother of 2 kids, I dropped out of school so I can take of my kids the best way I knew how with the little income I had coming in. Now that I don't have any income my kids don't have the stuff they need and i can't pay the bills that need to be payed so that I don't have to move out my apartment. If only I had the money I need I wouldn't have to depend on my mother to help me when she has her other 5 kids plus her sister's 2. Its hard not having a job when you have small babies at the ages of 1 and 2. I need money to put my kids in daycare so I can get a job so I can provide for them the way they should be provided for. But its hard when im the only one doing it all by myself. There were days where my kids ran out of pampers an I had to call around asking my family for money because they daddy would get mad at me an don't do anything for them because of what we went threw. Its really hard for me because im a mother that wants to work but can't because I don't have the money to pay anyone to keep my kids for me.In the past 2yrs. I have been struggling to make ends meet. If I had the money to pay my bills and money to provide for me and my kids I wouldn't want nothing more.If only someone walked in my shoes for a day or two I wouldn't be the only one feeling the way I do. When times gets hard i run to my mother for help because she's the only one that knows what its like to be a single mother.

About katEdid04

Hello everyone, and thanks for taking the time to view my story. I am a 26 year old, single mother of 2 great boys, ages 2 and 6. I am a full time college student and I will be graduating in July of this year. I recently lost my job about 2 months ago, however I was just hired and started a new job this week, I was unable to pay my rent for those 2 months, and now I am facing an eviction. I seperated from my husband about 6 months ago, and I have had this apartment ever since. I was doing well, and now I feel like everything is coming down on me. It took a lot of courage to up and leave my husband, and a lot of courage to become a single mother. I am proud of myself, and now I am trying to find a way to pick myself back up again. I am really nervous about getting a eviction put on my record, I am afraid it may effect my future. I am praying that somehow, I will get lucky enough to figure something out, so that I dont let my lttle boys down. I only pay 410 dollars a month, so I should be able to come up with that. I have a court date for my eviction on April 29..please pray for me...and thanks!

About jenntaylor

I am a single mother of 4. My first husband was an alcoholic and my second husband was killed in a car wreck. My kids ages are 20, 15, 10, and 7. My 10 year old has ADHD and my youngest has spinocerebellar ataxia, meaning she has a muscle degenertive disease that will only get worse as she gets older. I am not looking for money...I am looking for a support group for single parents that have more than one disabled child. I go to at least 1 doctors appointment a week and it is just tearing me down. I have disabilities of my own also but cannot find time to go to my doctor as regulary as i should because of having to take my children all the time. I really just want someone else to talk to that has been in my shoes and that can lend an ear every once in a while. It is hard out here when you are doing it all by yourself...and I am doing it all by myself. You think family is going to be there when you need them but they are always busy with there own life and children. So its just me and the kids. If you know of a suppoort group please tell me about it...I feel like I am going crazy and if that happens then what will happen to my kids.....

About rljhookem

I have a room I can offer a female. I have a 16 year old daughter and you will have to share a bathroom so it must be female. Originally I was trying to rent the room but if the right person comes along I would be glad to forego rent. If you are a young single mother or if you know of a young woman who could use the room and maybe some other assistence let me know. I am in Houston Texas. However I am not looking to just carry someone else on my back you must be willing and able to work. This isnt a permanent thing just a chance for someone to get on thier feet. Please contact me  if you are serious. No pets and no guys in the house. No drug addicts. I am reasonable and kindhearted but will not be used. I am doing this to maybe change 1 persons story and because I can right now.

moving forward

Hi. I have decided to go back to school. The nursing program is full for the upcoming fall semester so I am taking some other courses that will help until I can get in. Can anyone tell me how I can get some grants for this. I signed up for the financial aid but it is not enough. I have 5 little ones and I am a single parent. I am trying to do my classes online because I can't put some of my kids in daycare due to underdeveloped immune systems. I really hate asking for help because I have tried so hard to prove to everyone that I made the right decision to keep my babies and not risk their health by keeping them at home and not going back to work. Any information will help and God bless..;)

Home Building Grants For Single Mothers????

I am in a similar predicament, however slightly more fortunate. I am a single 25yr old mom of a 6yr old. My income is fairly low. I have no credit, only some college education(i quit college to take care of my dying grandmother) and a jerk of an ex who cant keep a job so i receive no child support. I am living with my step-grandfather who has been out of work for 6 months and a great-aunt with diabetes who has never worked a day in her life. She provides the afterschool care for my daughter.

The one thing I do have is a plot of land that my father left me after he recently died, near east texas. It is NOT worth much, less than half my yearly income. I'd like to build on this lot though so i can finally have my own home. Does ANYONE have any information for free grants etc that could help me build something small on this land???? Someone has to know of something,

I'd rather not go through government housing, I am not a pity story. I am simply asking for help building a house and I'll take it from there. A small grant of $10-$20, ooo should suffice to build a decent two-bedroom in tx. I'm not even sure it'd be that much.

Anyways, ANY and ALL information would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Are There Any Grants For Single Mothers?

Grants for single mother assistance take many forms. Many grants are small, especially grants for single mother education assistance. However, these small grants can be combined with other forms of assistance and aid. By combining several grant and assistance packages, the single mother can often finance tuition, books, transportation and, even, daycare.

One of the most common types of federal education grant is one that can pay from $400 to $4,050 per year, depending on the cost of the school, the need of the student and the student s enrollment status. The financial aid office at all participating schools will have all information necessary to apply for these grants.

There are numerous foundations offering grants for single mother assistance. These foundations generally only require that the applicant be a single mother or the child of a single mother in order to be eligible for the grant. Some foundations offer grants to assist in paying off student loans. The applicant is often expect to perform community service or do volunteer work in order to qualify for the grant. Professional women who are willing to volunteer their professional services to the community are especially eligible for grants to repay student loan debt. Teachers who are also single mothers may qualify for these grants without doing additional volunteer service, as teaching is considered to be a contribution to the community in and of itself.

Grants for single mother housing assistance are available through HUD. In addition to HUD grants, many states offer housing grants to single mothers. These grants may take the form of special loan packages and they may also pay all or a portion of the closing costs for home purchases. There are also grants available to help single mothers with the down payment on a home. These grants are generally State sponsored. The local Housing Authority will have information on the State s availability of grants for single mother housing assistance.
